Sarah Streepey

"If you've ever heard of a human yo-yo, you're looking at one. Fitness was never one of my fortes, and it's debatable as to if it ever will be. From a very young age, I would say 8 or 9, I've had issues maintaining a healthy weight. I was always slightly heavier than my friends growing up until about 7th grade. It seemed as if I had lost weight after summer, but in fact I had just gotten taller, and adherent ky "slimmer". I began cheering for my middle school, and helped coach a younger team my 9th grade year. Unfornatley I couldn't afford to play sports in high school so the weight began to pack on. I lost some weight during the summers but once I graduated High School and started college, I lost my grasp. I was working two jobs while earning my Associates degree, one of which was an office job. Being sedentary 40 hours a week isn't exactly conducive to weight loss. Eventually I got braces, and because of the dramatic change in what I could eat, I lost about 15lbs. Over the course of the next two years though, I experienced different situations that I would comfort by eating, and I turned 21, so alcohol became a staple in my diet. Needless to say, at my largest, about a year ago now, I weighed 176. I knew that I had gained weight, but it wasnt until my fathers health took a turn for the worst, that I started to confront the issue head on. My father passed away August 4,2012 and that was a total reality check. I began to work out every single day almost, and started eating much healthier. My method of coping no longer involved food, but transformed into free weights and cardio equipment. This peace that I found during my fathers passing is a large part of how I am reaching my goals today. I lost about 40lbs from August-December. I hit a plateau however, and began getting frustrated. This is when Josh came into the picture. What started with an hour consultation, has turned into a great friendship and big motivation in my life. Losing weight is just as much physical as it is mental. Without the proper mindset, you minimize the results that you could achieve. Over the last 7 months, Josh and I have grown close. He has played such a large part in motivating me, and being a partner to my success. So much so, that I decided that I want to be a personal trainer. I am currently working on my certification. I couldn't ask for a better trainer, or friend than Josh. During our sessions, I have sometimes lose my cool, and get discouraged. I know this is something a lot of people struggle with. Josh however, has pushed me the hardest in those moments. Through those times, I have discovered so much about myself, my ambition, and my drive that for many years I didn't know existed. Without having Josh as my trainer, I hate to think how motivated I would've stayed over the last 7 months. He truly has been a blessing in my life."

Megan Bethel

“Greatness is Earned, Never Awarded. Walking across a stage in a two-piece bikini and heels isn’t necessarily everyone’s cup of tea. And of course, when competing in pageantry, it is a tradition and large aspect of competition. The swimsuit portion of Miss America has transitioned its focus to be based on physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle rather than being considered just a simple bikini contest. The judgment truly is based on how well the contestant takes care of herself. Needless to say, Josh has kicked my butt into shape, quite literally. Preparing for the Miss Kentucky pageant is a full time job, focusing on community service, current events, public speaking, talent and of course fitness. Fitness was the one component where I severely lacked proper knowledge and technique on how to get myself to top performance level. From the moment I started working out with Josh at Fitness Plus 2, I have seen dramatic changes in both my physique and overall health. Josh has quickly become one of my number one supporters and of course the best coach I could ask for, constantly providing me with encouragement and pushing me to become my absolute best. Whatever the motive, whether it be to loose weight, tone up, or to prepare for something specific, there is one major component that people tend to forget when working to reach their goals…support (and of course proper guidance and training). Josh provides everything you would ever need in a trainer. Josh, or as many people know him, JB, is one of the absolute best in the field. He continues to amaze me every time I walk into Fitness Plus’ doors; I always walk out better than when I walked in. He takes physical fitness to the next level and you can easily tell he loves what he does. His constant motivating messages, his blog posts, and pictures add to the experience. I have quickly realized that the workout doesn’t end after an hour, it continues day in and day out when you work with Josh. There is never a down moment, Josh is always pushing for better. He is absolutely fabulous and I couldn’t be more thankful to have him to work with. And as the last month of preparation quickly encroaches, we have hit everything into high gear. I can only imagine what a transformation I will see. If the last few months have been any indication, I know that I will be ready to walk across that Miss Kentucky stage. But I know, that win or loose, I have learned life lessons from Josh that I will carry on. He has truly inspired me to have a love for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I plan to continue on with all he has taught me and continue to take everything to the next level on and off stage. As Josh would say, you can do All Things Through Fitness"

"Being a long distance runner, cyclist, and an attendee of hundreds of group x classes, I considered myself in decent shape. But, I was bored and wanted more. Having followed Josh Bowen's blogs, I knew he grasped and understood what this whole fitness thing was all about. I was thrilled when he became available for full time personal training and immediately scheduled my first session with him. Within a few weeks, I began to notice a marked increase in strength; especially upper body. Rope throw downs became a piece of cake, pushup reps increased, and my race pace became faster. JB also stays current on latest nutrition, exercise, and equipment trends and varied my workouts based on my needs and fitness goals. "I started training with Josh "JB" Bowen about 6 months ago. Due to my crazy schedule, being a mom of 3 busy boys, I was not able to get in as much as I would have liked. Despite my scheduling conflicts, Josh continued to work with me, and my schedule. I started out at about 135lbs and a size 4/6. I am very happily a size 0/2 now and weighing 115lbs. I feel Josh does a great job of combining the necessary cardio with light resistant training, to completely transform your body. "Consistently, 2-3 days a week, for a year and a half I have been training with Josh. He has gotten me through a major surgery as well as two pretty traumatic events. Josh was recommended to me by a friend who is a personal trainer, so I went into our first session with high expectations. From our first interaction on, he continually exceeds my expectations with his passion, knowledge and capacity to genuinely care about his clients. It's that last quality that amazes me the most.

If you're looking for a personal trainer strictly to get in shape, lose weight, gain muscle or any other physical goal, Josh gets results. Each workout is different and challenging, and I love that I don't know what to expect when I step into the gym with him. I've been training with Josh for almost six months, and I'm beyond pleased with my physical change. By the numbers, I've gone from a size 8 to a size 4 in jeans and I've lost a total of 6 inches from my chest, waist and hips. I have more confidence, self esteem and energy than ever before.

However, the thing that makes Josh exceptional is how invested he is in his clients' overall well being. He makes a point to know what is going on in your life outside of the gym and beyond your diet. He believes in an open and honest relationship with his clients, and that includes talking about your work, home life, etc. I'm lucky to have Josh in my life as my trainer, but also as a friend. I know that he will be there to hold me accountable for my workouts and push me physically, but also just to make sure I'm doing okay with a text message. I’ve been working out with my personal trainer, Josh now for a little over a year following the birth of my first child.
Just a little background about me: before having a baby, I was very active, fit, worked out 5-6 days a week and had a super flexible schedule. I was very self-motivated and challenged myself physically to the best of my ability. 
Then, I got pregnant ☺ My energy level dropped tremendously and I started eating everything in sight! I no longer had the desire to work out and used my pregnancy as an excuse to be lazy and eat. I gained 53 pounds. Once my little guy, Nash arrived, I had to learn to adjust to motherhood. I decided to breastfeed (for 12 months) which also increased my appetite. I knew I had to do something or else I would never get back into my pre-pregnancy pants again. Once my doctor released me to work out after having Nash, I was not motivated at all to go to the gym…it was easier to just stay home with my baby. This is when my husband Brian, introduced me to his long time personal trainer, Josh. 
I’ve been training with Josh 2-3 times a week for a year now. Although I used to work out all the time, I was very nervous to start back up again after such a long time off. Josh took all that anxiety away. He was patient and took the time to learn about me and what motivated me. 
Each workout is different, challenging and fun (sometimes, ha-ha). There are times I think, “There’s no way I can do that!” But he constantly pushes me and allows me to see that I can do way more than I give myself credit for. There have been numerous times when I’ve had a bad cramp, stiffness or unexplained soreness. Once I mention it to Josh, he says, “Oh, I know how to fix that!” He is a knowledgeable trainer with such great passion for fitness. Throughout this fitness journey, I’ve gotten to know Josh and now consider him to be a great friend. He came to my son’s first birthday party with a little Mickey Mouse and on his trip to Disney World for a conference he brought him back a Donald Duck. So, not only is he passionate about fitness, he is passionate about his clients (and their families). 
The results I have achieved to date are largely due to Josh's perfect combination of diverse training methods, individualized exercise programs & challenging yet achievable goal setting. His professionalism, extensive knowledge and enthusiastic commitment to his work and ultimately his clients, provides the perfect scenario for success and sets foundations for a healthier lifestyle.
All in all, I love training with Josh and would highly recommend him to anyone. He is a great guy, he has amazing fitness knowledge, and he will work his hardest to help you reach your exercise goals.

I feel really blessed to have found Aspire Fitness and Josh. I started my journey with Josh in February. In the past I have had many trainers. I always had great intentions, but never stuck with it. I believe it's because they were trying one size fits all training and diets. Josh couldn't be more opposite. My results have been amazing. Andy has been a great inspiration to me. When I finally made the decision to "do something" I was hesitant to seek out a personal coach-I thought I could just get on a treadmill and do it myself.
